MCC Tour to Malaysia/Singapore

Marylebone Cricket Club is on an eighteen-day tour to Singapore and Malaysia .
MCC will play a three-day match and a one-day game against the Singapore national side, and a further one-day match against a President's XI. The squad will then visit Malaysia for another five days' cricket - a three-day match and two one-day games against the Malaysian national team. In between playing commitments, the squad will conduct coaching sessions in both countries for local youngsters.
Commenting on the tour, John Stephenson , MCC's Head of Cricket, said:
"The trip to Singapore and Malaysia forms an important part of MCC's commitment to developing cricket talent world-wide. As well as our matches against the national teams of both Singapore and Malaysia, we shall be conducting coaching sessions for young people, fostering their interest in the game and, hopefully, discovering talented players for the future."
Prior to the departure of the tour, MCC and the International Cricket Council made a donation of US$5,000 to the cricket boards of both countries. The Malaysian Cricket Board intends to use the grant to purchase a bowling machine, covers and and an allocation for lights at the cricket nets at the Royal Selangor Club and the new Kinrara Academy. The Singapore Cricket Board will channel the money into youth development.
